MILANO OPEN PORTRAIT

On June 12 Fondazione Riccardo Catella , hosted the opening of Milano Archweek with the launching of Milan Open Portrait , a project by Antonio Ottomanelli, promoted by the Fondazione Riccardo Catella.

From Sunday 11 to Sunday, June 18, a Dark Room of human size will be installed in Alvar Aalto Square, in Porta Nuova. The project, halfway between photography of landscape, design and public art, is thought of as a bridge event between the two events Milano PhotoWeek and Milano Arch Week and aims to promote an interactive experience around the city’s image.

Milan Open Portrait is a project by Antonio Ottomanelli, an artist who found in photography the instrument to investigate the territory not as a landscape but as a mirror of social dynamics and geopolitical tensions.

By framing a glimpse of Porta Nuova, the device will realize a monumental and moving portrait of that area and its daily life. The Dark Room, realized through a collective workshop involving (Gallab lab) promoted by the Non-Reserved Association, will be in wood, with plasterboard interior and finished with natural absorbent paints bright: it is possible to observe the impression process of the external images shot through the hole on the back wall – on which will be applied a photosensitive emulsion that will record a latent image of the urban view.

The Milan Open Portrait project is within Porta Nuova Smart Community

PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION ‘LA CANZONE DI TKVARCHELI’

“La canzone di Tkvarcheli” is a photographic exhibition by Maria Gruzdeva, winner of the 1st edition of ‘Premio Internazionale di Fotografia di Architettura e Paesaggio’, in memory of Gabriele Basilico (Milan, 1944-2013). The ‘Premio Internazionale di Fotografia di Architettura e Paesaggio Gabriele Basilico’ is an initiative by Ordine degli Architetti P. P. C., Studio Gabriele Basilico and Fondazione Studio Marangoni.

Gruzdeva’s work is a journey to discover Tkvarcheli, a city in the Caucasian landscape of Abcasia, first ‘carbon town’ of soviet period, today a ghost post-apocaliptic city.

Landscape, inhabitants and documents are the key elements of a ‘tale’ made of spontaneity and deepness as the artist analises what is left of the city, of its industrial economy and the surviving residents.
