Mission and activities

Today we live in a global environment that is facing very important issues related to climate change and authorities are forcing public and private operators of all sectors to commit themselves towards a more sustainable society. The real estate industry is the focus of these reflections since buildings are the main generators of CO2, contributing one third of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. Commercial and residential buildings also account for 40% of world energy consumption *.

The Riccardo Catella Foundation has been active since 2007 with the mission of promoting the culture of social responsibility in acting on the territory, creating national awareness of global issues and developing civic projects to promote urban territory.

In order to mitigate the climate change requires a significant and continuous reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (V IPCC Report: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). A responsible use of land and sustainable business practices throughout the real estate life-cycle (using, for example, innovative technologies for energy efficiency, recycled materials, …) can meaningfully contribute to slowing and mitigating the effects of climate change.

The climate issue is a phenomenon destined to have an important impact on future development opportunities: on people’s lives and on economic, social, institutional and ecological systems everywhere in the world. In this context, the Foundation intends to make its own contribution to the development of the territory towards new models of intelligent, responsible, sustainable and inclusive societies.

The Riccardo Catella Foundation:

A cultural program dedicated to the theme of sustainable and responsible investment property (SRPI, Sustainable Responsible Property Investment) that explores and offers the market principles of responsibility and sustainability in the fields of territorial management and real estate in Italy.

“People’s Projects”: civic projects to facilitate the generation of positive processes for the development of urban quality by listening to citizens and implementing interdisciplinary operations that enhance public spaces and greenery.

The best practices in territorial development through events, debates and publications.
